Certainly not the end of the world, but I can't figure out why some of the entries in my Reminder app don't fire off their notifications when they're supposed to.

For something as simple as a task, repeated every day at the same time, the notification will display an hour or more after it should have.

I've tried trashing Reminder's preferences file, trashing/rebuilding caches, etc., but nothing seems to work. And, again, it's not ALL Reminder entries; just SOME of them.

How odd, yes?

Did you ever find an answer to this?

It almost sounds like a combination of loss of proper time sync combined with not being set to adhere to daylight saving time/standard time. If it's routinely an hour off, that's where I'd look.

Thanks for checking in. This issue still happens but, what makes it more puzzling is, there doesn't seem to be any patterns: the alerts are not off by an hour, necessarily (sometimes they just appear at any point after the scheduled time), and it doesn't even happen all the time. It's the weirdest thing. So, I've moved important events to my Calendar app.

Yeah, hard to track down seemingly random things, your workaround seems the best choice.

I've had recurring events that have existed since the dawn of time suddenly stop working (though not intermittently), and the solution was to delete the event, all previous instances of the event (it prompts you when deleting the event to do this), and then create a new event and schedule it and for whatever reason it works.

I'm guessing Apple periodically changes something time related in the application which breaks old events periodically. Not quite the year 2038 problem that could swallow entire Unix-based OSes and burp them out into the year 1901, just something about how they interact with time and calendars changes and old events get wonky.

I won't have any problems in 2038, or if I do I won't know what they are and won't care.

Given how things are going, I'm not sure how many human beings will still be around in the year 2038.
