In order to free up space on Mr H's MBP, I'm going to trash his old (v7.1.5) iPhoto library (we can't access it anyway until we install the app to do so - so I figured I might as well move it before we try to direct iPhoto 9 to the library's new home on an external)

When I put something big in the trash - 30GB of iPhoto library - is there anything else I need to do?

Can I do this in one fell swoop - or should I open the library package up (as I have to see what's inside) and throw it out in bits and pieces?

Anything else we need to know before we do this?

I would just put it in the trash. When you go to empty the trash hold down option to force empty the trash. You will need to be sure that Photos, iPhoto, or iTunes aren't using the database when you try to empty it, that's the only thing that will stop a force empty.
