A Power Mac 6500 (with an Apple 13" RGB CRT) and a Power Mac G4 MDD (with an Apple 17" Studio Display) – all in working order – will be headed to recycling in the next couple of weeks.

Just thought I'd check here first.

Those G4 MDDs make for the best UT99 machines, assuming you can still find an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro for them. If you lived near Leo's place he could take it off your hand for a spare :)

It's sad to see those really good towers be laid out to pasture. :(

Man I'd love the MDD to go with my current MDD (Dual 1.25 with the Ti 4600 card) but the shipping on that would be the killer. I know mine weighs a ton.

One of these days I'm going to find all the plastic cladding from my g4 and put it back on my frankenmac (Digital Audio motherboard in a Quicksilver case with QS power supply). I have a spare DA G4 motherboard, OEM DA CPU, all I need is an 80mm fan and the time to install it in the PSU and it's back up and running.

I just got tired of redoing the damn 7447A patches to open firmware every time the PRAM battery needed to replaced or the moons fell out of alignment, but with the OEM CPU that wouldn't be an issue.

After ordering the G4 in January 2004, shipping (from MacConnection in New Hampshire to the NJ shore) cost $99. It DOES weigh a ton. When a power surge from a lightning strike took out its power supply 7 or 8 years ago, the nearest Apple Store was located inside a shopping mall. Lugging the thing from the car, in the middle of the parking lot, and through the mall – and then back out again – was, shall we say, tedious.

I should point out that both the Power Mac 6500 and the G4 are in their original boxes with most, if not everything, that came with them.

I couldn't find an appropriate place to state this: When I subscribe to a topic, I receive an email notification only for the initial reply, not any subsequent replies. What might cause that?

That's a good questions, and this is a fair place to ask it, although someone might move it up here.

The answer is...I don't know, but I'm sure someone will look in to it. I've never actually subscribed to a topic come to think of it.

Thanks, Anon. And wouldn't you know? Now, having asked about why I receive only an initial notification, I just now received notification of your reply.

Go figure.
