After the 10.13.6 006 security update my Mac wants to use Mobile Hotspot App when I'm already connected.
No idea what launches it, but it will freeze practically everything until I let it, can't even quit it when it's trying to involve itself. Might take hours or a restart for it to happen again, not sure.

Any ideas on why or what? Oh, my Modem is a Wifi Hotspot.

This article might have relevant info for you. Or at least point you in the right direction.

When you say your modem is a wifi hotspot, are you referring to your ISP supplied cable modem/gateway at home (in which case, model # please), or something else?

My ISP is T-Mobile, via an Alcatel Linkzone...

https://us.alcatelmobile.com/alcatel-linkzone/

Only Internet option I have... no landline or cable available.

Thanks for the link, forgot about Internet Sharing, but that isn't enabled.

It sounds like your hotspot has guest access enabled, which is wifi without a password.

Try going to http://192.168.0.1/ and change the WiFi network name & encryption passkey.

Its possible it has a second guest network but the manual I found doesn't mention it.

Not sure what the password is on that site the manual doesn't list it. The manual is incredibly short and almost completely worthless.

Thanks, No guest network enabled, needs PW to login, limited to the 2 Macs I have.

It seems like something or somebody was requesting my Mac to make a Wifi Hotspot, but then again, manually launching the App opens a Browser window to 192.0168.0.1

Searching the Internet for Mobile Hotspot Admin.app, I don't find any for Apple or OS X, just... The Wi-Fi hotspot option is part of the “Internet Sharing” feature in macOS. But I do find it on T-Mobile!???

https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-3 ... Admin_Page

I find these 2 in Applications, but not on a month old clone...

Mobile Hotspot Admin Uninstall.app
Mobile Hotspot Admin.app

Now to figure out how it got there & what invokes it... it hasn't invoked itself today.

I'm surprised you haven't tried for satellite internet at your place. Might fare better than tethered internet via mobile plan (and cost a lot less too). Would sure save you headaches too.

Thanks ST, 1st off there's no roof to mount a dish to, 2nd this method is cheaper by far & no contract, little as $10 a month for 2GB high speed & unlimited 2G, vs. $59.99 a month with contract for Satellite.

Well that sucks. Good thing those old Amigas don't require much bandwidth then, eh? :D
