Or not?
Are you asking seriously or is this sarcasm?

We don't do iCloud let alone other cloud storages.
Your post prompted me to find this - is this the place? The review is interesting, but I suspect you've already seen it:

Thanks Mrs H, yeah, IO was worried about it being a going out of biz offer, had not seen that review.

I normally don't care for cloud stuff, but with the rain destroying all my stuff, I think II'll do it.

Did you see on their website the definition of lifetime? 99 years or lifetime of account holder whichever is shorter.
I'd consider this myself, but downloading (uploading?) photos is such a slow tedious process, and that's the majority of the stuff we care about - plus our writing. I keep it all on 5 external HDs (well actually 8) and keep two master copies in the safe deposit box - against rain and fire.

Rain destroyed all your stuff??? I've been away and haven't checked in here till just the other day. That is just awful to hear. I hope at least you came through it OK.

Leaky roof, only prpmises from the roof repair guy, I personally don't have that long to go, but planning for the best.

PS. pcloud is pretty fast, might try their free 20 GB site fir kicks.

I don't use their app, I just drag & drop to a webpage.

WHAT???? That sounds very worrisome.

Sounds like a plan - I might try it too. Seems like using the company is a reasonable risk to take.

No sense worrying, just the way it goes, especially at this age.

The year didn't seem that great for you BD, what with the roof, rain and health issues. Here's hoping this year turns some of those things around. Take care.

Damn roofers!

Otherwise, Google gives you 15 GB per email address for free.

Mega gives you 50 GB per account/email address for free.

Roofers are a special breed of %*&@ idiot. So far I haven't been screwed, but just contracted for another roof and I'm crossing my fingers. A friend is going to through a 6-month nightmare with an overpriced roof that the roofer couldn't figure out how to put on right and seems unwilling to finish. Another friend lived in a house with a moderately leaky roof. Then the roofers came, replaced the roof, and water poured through the ceiling like it never had before: turned out they had installed all the shingles backwards (working from the top of the roof to the bottom) so they channeled the water in to the house rather than off of it.

Anything technology related is too ephemeral. Okay, they guarantee for a lifetime but what happens when they go belly-up 3 years from now? Where's Netscape?

Lo & behold, a few months ago my youngest son bought & installed a 4th tarpĀ on the roof, not easy since the roof no longer will support a person... & it's been at least 2 months of drying out in the computer room.

Decided to pull apart my 27" iMac for parts, since it died in early Dec from rain... well, might as well tryt booting it one last time before ripping it apart, at leaast to try to eject my Civ5 CD.DVD... what the heck, it booted up fine! :D :coffee:

So, am I lucky, or did all your prayers & wishes accomplish the impossible?

Didn't this happen already before: Got wet, wouldn't boot, dried out, booted? Maybe it will last forever with a few more wet/dry cycles? Maybe the rain is ultimately good for it. Likes to get wet every so often.

Well, it was my favorite Mid 2007 24" iMac that died a few times from rain & came back, I'll try it again when I find more cords.

I felt sure the 2011 27"er died, was getting shocks from it, couldn't even unplug it because of the shocks everywhere, after it dried for a month it had no USB or FW, internal drive was dead long ago, would only boot to Globe Restore after several tries.

Yeah, maybe Rinse & Repeat? :P

Strap the iMac to the propeller of an aircraft carrier. What's the worst that could happen?

The aircraft carrier could require a complete restore before it would start up!

Small price to pay to keep an iMac in good working order.
