Starting August I've received about 10 of these emails purportedly from Dropbox, but not to an email addy of mine associated with Dropbox. Our SPAM filter quarantined them and rendered them Phishing. From countries around the globe.

I searched and found this:

Take care!

Think nothing of it.

Here's what one day's worth and on just one of our 5 email addies (to which no dropbox account is attached but that really is not an issue here)

Dropbox messages from Vietnam, Tunisia & Italy all in one day! Some of the others came from verify@dropbox.com
And look at the other lovely stuff we get in SPAM.

Thankfully we have not received the 300 messages mentioned in the attached article.

The bigger interest/curiosity is it doesn't matter if you use DB or not - in fact the email addies of ours that got the messages are those without a DB account.
The hackers just got a list of email addies and sent out millions of these messages.

I assume a DB user who was not on top of it might just open one of the messages, regardless of the addy to which it was sent, to see what was going on and then click the link to be sure that DB still worked.
