I'd be surprised if the utility tool method doesn't work, they just linked to the image on Apple's servers. Only Apple knows why they don't link to that image every time, I would guess it's cost savings from all the competitors/malicious actors looking to run up their bandwidth bill or overload their servers.

The find method might work but if it did copy the data and not just symlinks to data living on Apple's servers, that first copy would take the equivalent amount of time to downloading most of the app off Apple's servers. Of course if its just symlinks then it'll copy just as fast as the stub app would.

Howdy. Just thought I'd update you again: ever since downloading the Mojave installer to my Applications folder, I've not been nagged to actually make the update.

That's kind of weird. Every time I boot into High Sierra I get nagged to update to Mojave, and I've got the installer in /Applications.

The funny thing is that I have macOS 10.13.6 installed on three computers – 2012 Mac Pro, Z390 based Hackintosh, and Z97 based Hackintosh; the Z97 Hackintosh is the only one that I constantly get reminded to update to Mojave on.
