Hi all,
A windows user friend asked me for a way to be able to have thumbnail previews for picture files while browsing in explorer.

Sure, it's usually part of the normal OSX experience, although, not always, like with .svg's …

I first thought that an Icon Editor might help and I even tried a couple on my old PC Laptop and gave up.
And of course, my AVAST popped up and advised me against proceeding with one of the downloads. #$% windows !

Also, us Mac users can easily replace the file icon in the "get info" window, which is nice but not possible in windows, as far as I know.

Any comments ? TIA

Wow, lots of good info there, mainly the Picture Preview Icons..
Thanks very much for the links.

Yeah, still here…
I Was working my ass off all summer, very busy.
I finally caught up with my client and got paid,
so I treated myself to a new iMac (Late2012) and getting more keyboard time in now.
Here's where I was, I had to paint all the wood trim, doors windows, anything wood.
Had not been done in 8-10 years, perhaps do some inside painting during the winter.
Big spread, their asking 8M and it's been on market for a year now.

In Windows you can change the view mode to be "thumbnails" which is equivalent to "icons" under OS X. Under Vista & higher you can also change the size of the thumbnails, though only from a preset range of values ("Small," "Medium," etc.).

You don't have to use any kind of icon editor, Windows creates a cache by looking into each and every file for you when you flip on thumbnail mode. If the file is a picture, it creates a small version of each picture in its cache.
