According to a web site I'm currently on, the version of Safari I'm using is out of date.

The message, is :
Quote:
Your browser (Safari - Version: 10.0.3) is out of date. It has known security flaws and may not display all features of this and other websites.

A bit rich. I'm on macOS Sierra Version 10.2.3.

What do they want, these people? :D

I've contacted them to see what their reasoning is.

I believe 10.0.3 is the latest (at least in 10.11) Where are you seeing this pop-up? Sounds like a scam.

Yes, AFAIK I've got the latest version of Safari on account of having the latest version of macOS.

I wondered whether it was some sort of pathetic scam.

Perhaps you could check and see what you get?

Polarn O. Pyret is a highly regarded Swedish company that makes clothing for babies and kids. I've yet to get a reply from their end to my email asking about all this.

Safari 6.2.8 here, no out of date thing at that bite.

Maybe they just have a list of browsers that isn't upto date.

Their version checking is flawed. Whatever validation they're using is being hosted by some random google shim CDN. Also, they still list internet explorer when the "latest" has been Edge for some time now. Their web team needs to stop slacking and do their jobs.

BD, thanks for checking. Very weird.

ST, I wouldn't have known how to describe things in a technical sense the way you did. Thanks.

And, er, I didn't click on that warning window - it seemed to be a live link. Chicken

I shall await a reply from them, to see how they will explain themselves, and I'll report back.

Thank you for getting in touch. I am very sorry to hear about this and we’ll get the technical team to take a look into it, this isn't something we have heard of before.

A cliffhanger!
To be continued …

I didn't click the link either. I viewed the page source to get at what type of validation they were using. As they had no validation code on their page other than calling a script from Google's CDN, I can see why they didn't even notice the problem until told about it.
