What does the rumor mill say will happen with new PowerBook MacBook Pros in the coming month, if anything? The current conventional MBP 15" is getting pretty old. When will we see a new one?

More generally, what's the outlook for September 10?

I bet they kill off the non-glued together MBPs completely and speed bump the glued-together MBPs.

Alternately they'll kill off the non-glued together models, then introduce some thinner glued-together faster models that have no easily-removed panels for upgrading RAM, etc. after purchase.

Remember, they keep calling the glued together models their "next generation" MBPs.

Search your feelings; you know it to be true!

Well, yeah, probably, but I'm interested in a refurb for a relative.

All I've seen is iOS stuff. Mostly iPhones, then iPads. Somewhere it was mentioned that iMacs were in short supply, signaling a possible refresh, but I haven't seen anything on portables in a while.

Wasn't there a new CPU or something that was appropriate for portables that just came out? That's the only thing I have heard (read) about portables.

The amount of leaks this time around for phones seems horrible. That is, if they are even accurate. Who knows how many of them are purposefully misleading or done for press...

Hope you find a nice refurb, I've had good luck with them. Had one poop out 89 days into it's warranty and got an upgraded motherboard out of it back in the 800Mhz days.

I would expect either this month or next month to see a refresh of the MBPs to the Haswell line. They're due for an update and the MBAs already got Haswell CPUs earlier this year. That should make the refurb prices even lower for previous gen laptops, so I would hold out just a bit.

Thanks, that pretty much what I had been assuming/hoping. I'd really like for Apple to get it all out of the way on September 10.

He bought a 15" MBP today, expected to arrive in about six business days, $1450.

I hope he got the regular MBP and not the Retina MBP. The regular one has ethernet and expandability built in. The rMBP does not.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the "retina" model: unrepairable, no Ethernet, no expansion, more expensive. Love the screen...too bad about the rest. :(

Well Apple just updated the iMacs with little fanfare. Still overpriced IMO. iPads next, followed by laptops?

With Mavericks likely due out by the end of October or early November, the next in line would be the Mac Pro. It is possible that the laptops are update simultaneously as well.

Too bad for Apple I've now got all of the components minus a couple of Noctua NF-P14 PWM fans for my Hackwell Pro.
