Yes, but likely the code to access them isn't in the API, so only Apple can write an app to use it, and it probably just shows the image files on the "drive."

My guess is that it will probably work.

Yeah, I don't want to do 10 things at the same time, but I'd definitely want at least web + chat, web + pandora, etc.

This amazes me as well- some mobile phones have a better resolution than it does.

Agreed. All the html5 fanboys say it will do everything flash does, but I really don't believe it. Even if it does, that's the future, not today.

Yeah, how are they charging that much? Don't 3G chips cost around $1 these days?

Yes, but you're not considering everything. Sure the chips themselves are only 98¢, but there's also solder, and the extra electricity to run the reflow oven, and a bath to wash off the excess flux! When you take that in to consideration, the price rises to <calculating> 98¢, but we'll round it to 99¢.

Of course the price Apple charges for these things in no way relates to the how much it costs to make them, at least as long as they can sell for more than the production cost. As it stands, it looks like these will be equivalent to printing money. Seriously, 40-50% profit margins??

My guess is part of the $130 goes to AT&T, in exchange for them agreeing to offer no-contract unlimited data for $30.

I would love it if I could shoot with my DSLR tethered to the iPad for instant review of my shots.

Ditto on that. I wonder if there will be a hack or "app" that will sort that out. I know there are apps that let you use your iPhone/iPod Touch as a camera remote while it's tethered, so it's possible with the proper cable/adapter combo.

Uh oh, iPad. You've been Dvoraked!

Just based on Dvorak's skepticism, I'm tempted to buy another 20-30 shares of AAPL, just to add to my humble collection.

Stomping the iPad

This event is a no-win situation for the company. Competitors are poised to pounce on the market if it shows life. And I can assure you that the fickle users of these sorts of technologies are just that, fickle. Any device can suddenly become the alpha-geeks' product of choice. The likelihood the winner will be Apple this time is low.

A "no win" situation? Part of the user base is already established. iPhone/Touch and iTunes Store users and new potential buyers already know of the beauty of Apple's mobile GUI ~ the coolness factor shall outweigh the snark. The iPad may help break open the tablet marketplace and help change the way a lot of people do things. This thing is a blank canvas ~ this guy has no imagination or foresight.

Dvorak has never been right about anything. I think he trolls to piss off all the mac fanboys who then link to his article, giving him ad revenue.
